I am going to give a real life example of what happened sometime ago in a friend's family. A father, who was never one of the best kinds, all of a sudden in his 70's started being too distant from home and was no longer performing his duties as a father. So my friend and her mother decided to investigate and find out what caused the adverse change. Only to find out that the man had "fallen in love" with a woman who already had kids and had left her husband and has decided that this is where his money would finish. This unruly behavior of this aging man was quickly associated with "Jazz" or so called Voodoo.
In another case, a woman spoils her only son and never scolded him even when he showed some signs of not being serious with his education. Eventually the big one came...University... then they were faced with reality, everyone blaming the other since there was no one to apportion the blame to. What do you think they resulted to as the cause?...VOODOO.
My questions are: For the first story, are they forgetting that the man has always been unfaithful or is it now voodoo because it is the most serious case? For the second, are the parents forgetting who laid that foundation for their child in the first place? Nigerians believe in black magic and have now decided that this will be an excuse for every mistake people make and every stupid behavior we portray. I believe that sometimes we should own up to our mistakes, it doesn't really take anything from us rather its the first step to finding a solution.
This is my own opinion on the issue, what's your opinion on this? And if you don't like my opinion,don't be offended...Blame it on Voodoo...LOL
